Welcome!
Hey Yall!
I am Kylie. I am the owner and lead photographer at Double K Photography. At 19 years old I took a leap and started this business. Now 5 years later at 24 years old I am happy to announce that we are expanding and making huge steps for the future. I am also a mama to a sweet little boy (who at the time of writing this is about to be ONE). I am a wife to an amazing man named Dusty who puts up with all of my crazy ideas and requests. I have been a photographer since 2019, but I have always had an interest in photography. My parents bought me a camera at around 7 years old. Of course it was nothing like today's technology but it was enough to spark a fire within my soul. I decided to start this blog as I love to write and wanted to have a platform to use my voice for good.
Let's Get Intimate
I know, I know, this sounds scary. It's not! A little back story on me. I grew up in a home with parents who didn't always like each other, which is quite normal in today's times. My childhood was still great, don't get me wrong, but because of this we did not do photo shoots. The only photos we have are whatever was taken on someones cell phone or disposable camera. Eventually my parents made the decision to get divorced and are both much happier apart. Although we do not have professional photos as a family, we still have something together, while they may not last as long as professional photographs, I am glad we have them.
I myself have been through alot in my semi-short lifetime. I was actually in college to become a doctor in physical therapy (I was still in undergrad) when I was in a violent car accident. The accident caused me to injure my spine, develop a TBI (traumatic brain injury), and I had nerve damage to my dominant arm (hence the huge scar you can find on my right arm haha). Unfortunately due to those injuries I had to give up my dream of being a doctor. My accident pushed me to become a photographer once I realized that if I had lost my life, my family wouldn't even have a good professional photo of me for my memorial. Morbid I know, but I can't help it! A near death experience will do that to you.
My drive for photography comes naturally for me. Photography is my one true passion in life aside from being the best wife and mother I can be.
They always say that if you do something you love, you'll never work a day in your life.
Enough on me for today, I will tell you a bit more about myself another time!
This blog will go over photography tips, mom talk, how to prepare for your session, editing and anything else that comes to mind (insert my ADHD rants/raves here lol).
I am going to wrap it up there for now! Remember to always embrace the moment and capture this moment in time.
Until Next Time,
Kylie
